Tucson, Ariz. - Chris Eggleston set the pace for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West at Tucson Speedway, as he led the way in both practice sessions.
Setting a 16.157-second time in the second session, the 28-year-old Eggleston edged reigning West Series champion Todd Gilliland by 0.075 seconds. Eggleston, who hit 83.555 mph, improved by 0.252 seconds from the first session.
Derek Kraus turned the third quickest time at a 16.317 while Riley Herbst and Zane Smith, who is filling in for 2016 Tucson winner Ryan Partridge, in the fifth spot.
With Rill Rodgers ending with the sixth best time, the top six speeds all occurred in final practice.
The opening session saw Eggleston top second-place Ron Norman, Todd Souza, Derek Kraus and Riley Herbst the top five.
Salvatore Iovino experienced the only on-track incident of the day, when he spun his No. 39 off Turn 2. The 2016 most popular driver suffered no damage and ended the day with a best time of 17.235.
The No. 0 machine of Bobby Hillis was the lone driver not to turn a lap in either session.
