QUALIFYING: Vilarino Claims 1st Pole

NOGARO, France – Spain’s Ander Vilarino claimed the honor of being the first Euro-Racecar pole winner under the NASCAR banner Saturday at Circuit Paul Armagnac.

Vilarino earned the top spot with a lap of 1 minute, 35.642 seconds (136.9 km/h) on the 3.636 km (2.259 miles) road course. Qualifying for the Nogaro 200 was held in group, road-course format during a 15-minute session.

PRACTICE: Vilarino Sets Fast Pace

NOGARO, France – Friday’s double practice sessions got the 2012 Euro-Racecar season off to a fast start, with top driver Ander Vilarino topping the 2011 pole time by nearly a second.

Vilarino posted a lap of 1 minutes, 34.965 seconds around the 3,636-meter (2.259 miles) Circuit Paul Armagnac in the afternoon session in advance of the weekend’s season-opening Nogaro 200.

New NASCAR Era Kicks Off In Europe

With the long term partnership signed with its American model, a new era begins for the EURO-RACECAR, the first official NASCAR series in Europe.

EURO-RACECAR, in its first season as a sanctioned NASCAR Touring Series, kicks off the 2012 season with the Nogaro 200 at Circuit Paul Armagnac in Nogaro, France April 6-9.

In Nogaro, 25 cars - Chevrolet Camaro, Ford Mustang or Dodge Charger and Challenger - will be on the grid. Nearly 50 drivers will enter the 2 Championships ELITE and OPEN.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) and Team FJ has announced a licensing agreement that recognizes EURO-RACECAR as a NASCAR touring series.
