DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Over the last six NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, no one has been able to post better results than Ryan Preece. The Berlin, Connecticut, driver has four wins, a runner-up and a fourth and it has allowed him to claw his way right back into the fight for the championship. Even though he missed a race at Virginia's Langley Speedway in May to get married, Preece sits only 19 points from the points lead with seven championship races left on the 2017 schedule.

Preece Charges Late at Thompson

THOMPSON, Conn. -- The wave of momentum for Ryan Preece continued on Wednesday night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park

Preece charged to the front of the 28th Annual Bud "King of Beers" 150 for his second straight NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory and fourth of the season.

The Berlin, Connecticut, driver passed defending champion Doug Coby with just 16 laps remaining en route to the win. In his last six Whelen Modified Tour starts, he has four wins, a second and a fourth. It was his 19th career tour victory.

QUALIFYING: Pennink Scores Thompson Pole

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Rowan Pennink scored his first career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour pole on Wednesday night at Thompson (Conn.) Speedway Motorsports Park. Pennink posted a fast time of 18.697 seconds behind the wheel of his No. 3 Cape Cod Copper/USNE Chevrolet on the 0.625-mile high-banked oval. Pennink enters the Bud 150 just seven points off the lead in the championship standings with eight races remaining.

PRACTICE: Preece Fastest At Thompson

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Last time the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was on the track, Ryan Preece was in Victory Lane at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Wednesday, the driver of the No. 6 TS Haulers/Hoosier Tire of Calverton Chevrolet continued his dominant roll in the series. He posted the fastest time in the first and only practice session for the Bud King of Beers 150 at Thompson (Conn.) Speedway Motorsports Park. His quick time of 18.608 seconds was good enough to best all of the 26-car field.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Eight races down, eight races to go on the 2017 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season.

And with the second half of the season set to get underway on Wednesday night at the Connecticut's Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, the championship battle is starting to heat up. The top seven drivers are seperated by just 38 points heading for Wednesday's 28th annual Bud King of Beers 150. On the strength of three victories, Islip, New York driver Timmy Solomito enters the race with a seven point lead over Boelher Racing's Rowan Pennink (310-303).

Preece Continues To Roll At Stafford

STAFFORD, Conn. -- Ryan Preece has been nearly unbeatable of late when he straps behind the wheel of a race car.

Last weekend, Preece scored his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series victory at Iowa Speedway. He marked his return to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Friday at Connecticut's Stafford Motor Speedway with another trip to Victory Lane in the Stafford 150.

QUALIFYING: Lutz On Top At Stafford

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Even though it has only just started, the new combination of Craig Lutz and Jeff Goodale seems to be paying off. Lutz, behind the wheel of the No. 46 Riverhead Building Supply Chevrolet, scored his first career Coors Light Pole award on Friday night in advance of the Stafford 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway. His fast time of 18.345 seconds around the half-mile Stafford oval was just good enough to put him on the top spot.

PRACTICE: Coby Sets Stafford Pace

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Four-time Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby posted the fastest overall time in practice Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway. The two sessions were in preparation for the Stafford 150. The driver of the Mayhew Tools No. 2 posted a quick time of 18.383 seconds in the final practice round, besting all of his challengers by more than a tenth. Coby will seek his seventh straight Coors Light Pole award at Stafford in group qualifying on Friday night and will also seek his 11th victory at the half-mile in the Stafford 150.
