Richards Does It Again

TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico – Homero Richards picked up his second win of the season, and Germain Quiroga moved closer to officially clinching the 2009 NASCAR Mexico Series championship despite a 21st-place finish Sunday at Autódromo de Chiapas.

Richards took the lead on Lap 97 and was out front on Lap 152 on the 1,200-meter course when the race reached the 100-minute time limit.

Lopez Out Front In The End

MEXICO CITY - Rogelio Lopez was in the right place at the right time to extend his all-time NASCAR Mexico Series wins mark to 17 with his second win of the season Sunday. It was also the second career win for the 2006 series champion at Mexico City, with his previous win at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez coming in Dec. of 2006.

Rovelo Earns The Win

QUERETARO, Mexico – Ruben Rovelo earned his second career NASCAR Mexico Series victory Sunday at the Nuevo Autódromo de Querétaro, and runner-up Germain Quiroga took a big step toward securing his first series championship.

Rovelo earned the pole position Saturday and led the first 55 laps. Although he dropped back as low as 11th, he was able to rally and regain the lead on Lap 125 and was out front on Lap 132 when they reached the 100-minute time limit.

Quiroga Continues Run To Title

MONTERREY, Mexico – German Quiroga moved closer to his first NASCAR Mexico Series championship with his third win of the season Sunday at Autódromo de Monterrey.

Quiroga, who was the series runner-up in 2007 and 2008, pushed his lead to 194 points over Ruben Pardo after the 10th of 14 races. Pardo finished third behind Quiroga and runner-up Irwin Vences Sunday.

Patrick Goeters and Jorge Arteaga rounded out the top five.

Quiroga previously won at Aguascalientes in the season opener April 12 and San Luis Potosi May 31.

Goeters Brothers Go 1-2 at Puebla

PUEBLA, Mexico – Patrick Goeters became the eighth different winner in nine NASCAR Mexico Series races this season with his victory Sunday at the new permanent road course at Autódromo Miguel E. Abed.

It was Goeters first win since April 20, 2008 at Mexico City. In addition, his brother Jorge Goeters finished second at Puebla.

Rafael Martinez was third, followed by German Quiroga and Rogelio Lopez.

Goeters Dominates At Potosino

SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico - Jorge Goeters collected his first NASCAR Mexico Series win since 2007 and he did it in the most dominating manner possible.

Goeters took the lead from pole sitter Hugo Oliveras before the first lap was completed and led the entire 200 laps in winning at Autódromo Potosino Sunday - the first time in series history that a driver has led every lap. It
was Goeters' seventh career win and first since July 29, 2007 at Guadalajara.

Perez Returns to Victory Lane

ZACATECAS, Mexico – Defending NASCAR Mexico Series champion Antonio Pérez picked up his first win of 2009 Sunday at Autódromo Internacional de Zacatecas.

Perez, who won five times last year during his champion run, won for the first time since Oct. 12 at Chiapas.

He started eighth and moved to third by lap 18. He took over the lead on lap 38 and led the rest of the way. The race went 63 laps.

Richards Finally Breaks Through

GUADALARAJA, Mexico – Homero Richards earned his first career win Sunday in the Goodyear 200 before a capacity crowd of more than 9,000 at Autódromo Internacional Bernardo Obregón.

Richards, making his 48th career start, had previously finished runner-up five times and had won the pole position seven times.

He held off pole sitter Germán Quiroga for the victory. Quiroga settled for second and extended his points lead over Ruben Pardo, who finished seventh, to 118 points.

Oliveras Gets His First

QUERETARO, Mexico – Hugo Oliveras picked up his first career NASCAR Mexico Series victory to cap an emotional weekend at the New Queretaro Autodromo.

Oliveres had one of the fastest times in practice but qualified fifth for the Goodyear 200, before driving the No. 11 Monster-MM Toyota to the front.

The race was dedicated to Carlos Pardo, who died June 14 following an accident in the race at Puebla. Pardo was the 2004 NASCAR Mexico Series champion. Prior to the race, the series held a tribute to Pardo and retired his car number 21.
