Goeters Takes Over Mexico Series Points Lead 

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico – Antonio Pérez earned his second career NASCAR Mexico Series win Sunday with a victory at the Potosino Oval.

Pérez drove his No. 1 Telmex/Red Bull Dodge to the lead halfway through the 120-lap event on the half-mile track. It’s the first win since Sept. 2, 2007 at Monterrey for Pérez, who also plans to run a limited schedule in the NASCAR Camping World Series East.

Richards Earns Second Pole Award

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico – Homero Richards earned his second pole award of the season Saturday at the Potosino Oval for Sunday’s NASCAR Mexico Series race.

Richards’ No. 20 H&H/Nextel Ford circled the half-mile in 21.766 seconds. Antonio Pérez (No. 1 Telmex/Red Bull Dodge) was second in 21.974, followed by Germán Quiroga (No. 5 Telcel Ford) at 21.980.

Wait Is Over For Goeters

MEXICO CITY – It took more than three years, but Patrick Goeters found his way back to Victory Lane at Mexico City.

Goeters (No. 15 Citizen-FedEx Ford) only led six laps but he led the most important one – the final – in winning the NASCAR Mexico Series race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Sunday. It was Goeters first victory since March 5, 2005 at Mexico City.

Richards Tops Qualifying At Mexico City

Mexico City – Homero Richards earned the NASCAR Mexico Series pole with the fastest qualifying time at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course Saturday afternoon.

Richards’ No. 20 H&H/NEXTEL Ford toured the 2.5-mile course in 1 minute, 31.244 seconds. He edged the No. 15 Citizen-FedEx Ford of Patrick Goeters (1:31.601) and the No. 5 Telcel Ford of Germán Quiroga (1:31.791).

Update (5:30 p.m. ET) - L.W. Miller paced NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour practice at Caraway. But the rain that plagued Greenville in the morning is moving in on the Asheboro, N.C. track.

Martínez Rolls To Opening Victory

Queretaro, Mexico – Rafael Martínez opened defense of his NASCAR Mexico championship with a season-opening victory at the New Queretaro Autodrome road course Sunday.

Martínez, who won the pole Saturday, drove his No. 18 Canel´s/Scotiabank/Tekmol  Ford to his 11th career victory. Patrick Goeters (No. 15 Citizen-FedEx Ford) was second, followed by Luis F. Montaño (No. 87 Seman Baker Dodge).

Homero Richards and Jorge Goeters were fourth and fifth, respectively. Irwin Vences was the top rookie in sixth.
