WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 gets its 2015 season underway this weekend with the running of the Clarington 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. L.P. Dumoulin returns to defend his series championship and improve on a fourth-place finish in last year’s opener while Andrew Ranger will look for a third-consecutive pole at CTMP, where he set the track record in this event a year ago.

Rovelo Keeps Rolling To Victory Lane

TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Chiapas, Mexico -- Rubén Rovelo continued his hot streat Sunday at Tuxtla Gutiérrez.

The Mexico City driver collected his second straight NASCAR Mexico Series win in the RedCo 240 at Súper Óvalo Chiapas. It marked Rovelo's third win in the last five series races dating back to the visit to Tuxtla last October.

Rovelo used lapped traffic on the .75-mile tri-oval to manuever his No. 28 G3C Racing Team/GESTI Dodge past race leader Felipe Luis Montaño and take the win.

Rovelo Rebounds For Mexico Win

SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico – Rubén Rovelo's roller coaster afternoon ended up in Victory Lane Sunday as he claimed the checkered flag in the Potosina 200 at Super Ovalo Potosina.

It was the ninth career NASCAR Mexico Series win for the Mexico City driver.

Pardo Makes A Statement At Phoenix

Avondale, Ariz. -- Ruben Pardo couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the season.

The 35-year-old Mexico City driver dominated the NASCAR season opener at Phoenix International Raceway Friday, leading a sweep of the top three spots in the Toyota 120 by HO Speed Racing.

Pardo led the final 28 laps en route to his seventh career win. Earlier in the day, Pardo drove the No. 15 Citizen/Potosinos Toyota to a record lap at the one-mile track. He broke his own track mark, set last year.

QUALIFYING: Pardo Breaks Own Record

Phoenix, Ariz. – Ruben Pardo broke his own track record in NASCAR Mexico Series qualifying Friday at Phoenix International Raceway for the season-opening Toyota 120.

The 35-year-old Mexico City native posted a lap of 28.544 seconds (126.121 mph) in the No. 15 Citizen/Potosinos/Toyota Toyota to break the mark he set last year of 28.850 (124.783)

Hugo Oliveras qualified second at 28.844 (124.809), followed by defending series champion Abraham Calderon at 28.848 (124.792).

PRACTICE: Rovelo Starts Off Strong

Phoenix, Ariz. – Ruben Rovelo started off opening weekend on a high note.

The 27-year-old Mexico City driver recorded the fastest overall lap in the NASCAR Mexico Series two-hour practice for the season opener, the Toyota 120 at Phoenix International Raceway. Rovelo ended the 2014 season ranked third in the series.

Rovelo posted a lap of 28.548 seconds around the one-mile paved oval.

Rogelio Lopez (28.566 seconds) and Antonio Perez (28.568 seconds) were second and third.

Mexico Series Set To Air On NBC UNIVERSO

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The ninth season of the NASCAR Mexico Series under the NASCAR banner will take the green flag on Friday at Phoenix International Raceway, and fans across the United States can catch all the electrifying action of Mexico’s national racing championship on NBC UNIVERSO. The broadcast of the Toyota 120 will air live beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

• The NASCAR Mexico Series will take the green flag for its 2015 season at Phoenix International Raceway for the third season in a row with the Toyota 120. Daniel Suárez, who is now racing in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for Joe Gibbs Racing, won the race last year and will be the honorary Grand Marshal. Defending series champion Abraham Calderón won the inaugural race in 2013. The race is the first of 15 events for Mexico’s national racing championship and will air live on NBC UNIVERSO at 10 p.m. ET.

Mexico, Toyota End Entitlement Sponsorship

The NASCAR México Series presented by FOX Sports 3 announced today that its entitlement sponsorship with Toyota will not continue in 2015, but that the automotive manufacturer will continue as a sponsor in the series through the season.

“We would like to thank Toyota for its valuable contributions to the series and helping elevate the NASCAR México Series as one of the leading motorsports championships in Latin America,” said Juan Carlos Ortiz Cuenca, director of operations for the NASCAR México Series.
