Gilliland Gets On Gas At Right Time

MARNE, Mich. -- Todd Gilliland worked the tire conservation game to perfection Saturday night, picking the perfect time to power to the front, en route to his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory of the season.

The 17-year-old NASCAR Next driver from Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, led the final 31 laps to claim the Stars & Stripes 150 in the series' first visit to Berlin Raceway.

QUALIFYING: Purdy Earns Pole At Berlin

MARNE, Mich. -- Chase Purdy is getting a hang of this qualifying thing.

The 17-year-old from Meridian, Mississippi, won his second straight 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented Coors Light Saturday. The Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East posted the fastest time around the .438-mile Berlin Raceway for the evening's Stars & Stripes 150.

Purdy's No. 17 Bama Buggies/Textron Offroad Toyota circled the .438-mile oval in 16.926 seconds for an average of 93.158 mph.

PRACTICE: Gilliland Leads At Berlin

MARNE, Mich. -- Todd Gilliland is still looking for his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win. Saturday, in the series' first visit to Berlin Raceway, the NASCAR Next driver set a blistering pace in practice.

Gilliland's mock qualifying run late in the 1 hour, 30 minute session for Saturday night's Stars & Stripes 150 put the No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota atop the charts with a lap of 17.026 seconds (92.611 mph) around the .438-mile oval.

MILFORD, Conn. - There was a time in Doug Coby’s young racing career that the Milford driver seemed to be on the fast track toward the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East division.

At that point, when Coby was winning championships in the Late Model (1998) and former Pro Stock division (2000) at Stafford Motor Speedway, the K&N Pro Series East was known as the Busch North Series.

Burton Wins K&N East Race At Memphis

MILLINGTON, Tenn. -- Harrison Burton is on a roll in 2017, and all the bad luck he suffered in 2016 seems to have fallen by the wayside.

The 16-year-old Huntersville, North Carolina, native won his second race in a row and third of the season on Saturday afternoon at Memphis International Raceway. He survived a race of attrition that saw two of the fastest drivers, Chase Purdy and Todd Gilliland, encounter problems past the halfway point in the Memphis 125 Presented by AutoZone.
