PRACTICE: Burton Tops Speed Charts At South Boston

K&N Pro East Points Leader Sets Pace At Father's Home Track

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - Harrison Burton topped the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East practice session at South Boston Speedway with a blazing lap on Saturday.

The current points leader following his first series career win at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, ran a lap of 14.651 seconds to win the one and only practice session this weekend. The 16-year-old's run was .931 seconds ahead of the track record (15.582 seconds) which was set by Danville, Virginia's, Peyton Sellers in 2007. 

Chase Purdy in the No. 17 Bama Buggies/Textron Off Road Toyota clocked the second fastest lap with a time of 14.670 seconds. This weekend marks his first trip to South Boston while competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

Brothers, Collin and Chase Cabre were third and fourth fastest while their Rev Racing teammate, Ruben Garcia Jr. rounded out the top-5. Garcia Jr. enters the weekend coming off a career-best finish of second at Bristol

Sellers was sixth, followed by Todd Gilliland, Vinnie Miller, Dillon Bassett and Tyler Dippel.

Qualifying for the Twin 100s will begin at 4 p.m. ET, followed by the first race at 7 p.m.ET.
