WATKINS GLEN, NY -- Ryan Truex was fastest on the speed charts in the only practice for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East's Finger Lakes Wine Country 100 at Watkins Glen International. Truex's No. 01 Gunma Toyopet Toyota turned a blazing fast lap of 120.737 mph (1:13.294 seconds) around the 11-turn road course.
The Mayetta, New Jersey, native and two-time K&N Pro Series East champion (2009, 2010) was the only driver to run a lap in the 120-mph bracket. His fastest lap came on his 16th and final lap of the session. He is making his first appearance in the series since Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in April and first series start at the Glen since 2009, where he wound up in Victory Lane.
Ruben Garcia Jr. was second-fastest on the speed charts, as he turned a lap of 119.392 mph (1:13.874 seconds) in his No. 6 Sunoco Toyota. Will Rodgers, who finished second to eventual winner Kevin Harvick at California's Sonoma Raceway, concluded the practice sesson in third.
Full-time NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Matt Tifft was fourth on the leaderboard, and points leader Harrison Burton rounded out the top five.
Chase Purdy, Tyler Dippel, Collin Cabre, Todd Gilliland and Brandon Jones completed the top-10 after the 85-minute session.
Qualifying for the Finger Lakes Wine Country 100 at Watkins Glen International will take place at 3:30 p.m. ET with the green flag scheduled for 4:45 p.m. ET.
