WATKINS GLEN, NY -- Ryan Truex and Watkins Glen International seem to be a pretty good pair.
The driver of the No. 01 Gunma Toyopet Toyota for Hattori Racing Enterprises earned the Coors Light Pole for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East's Finger Lakes Wine Country 100 at Watkins Glen with a fast lap of 120.254 mph (1:13.345 seconds). The pole is Truex's third of his K&N Pro Series East career and first since 2009 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
The Mayetta, New Jersey, native's quickest lap around the 2.45-mile road course came on his first lap in the final group of qualifying. In his only other start in the series this season at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway in April, Truex qualified fourth and finished 25th.
Will Rodgers will roll off alongside Truex in his No. 7 Solvang Brewing Company Ford. His fastest lap of 119.120 (1:14.043 seconds) around the upstate New York road course was good enough to qualify ahead of series points leader Harrison Burton, who qualified third in his second trip to WGI. Collin Cabre and Todd Gilliland round out the top-five starters.
Tyler Dippel, Jay Beaslet, Scott Heckert, Matt Tifft and Dillon Bassett round out the top-10 starters.
The green flag for the Finger Lakes Wine Country 100 at Watkins Glen International will fly at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET.
