WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – It was a record-setting day during qualifying for the Bully Hill 125 at Watkins Glen International as Brodie Kostecki backed up his performance in practice by setting a new track mark for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East with a fast lap of 72.869 seconds (121.039 mph).
It was the second career 21 Means 21 presented by Coors Brewing Company Pole Award in the series. Kostecki won his first pole in May at Iowa Speedway.
The Australian rookie driver beat the old track record of 74.223 seconds (118.831 mph) established by Antonio Perez in 2008 and will lead the field to the green flag for the first K&N Pro Series East race at the road course since 2009.
Austin Hill followed in second with a time of 73.506 seconds (119.990). NASCAR Next driver Cameron Hayley (73.518/119.971) was next in third with Daniel Saurez and Scott Heckert completing the top five.
Finishing sixth through 10th was Kaz Grala, series points leader Ben Rhodes, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 regular Andrew Ranger, Brandon Jones, and Gray Gaulding.
The top nine qualifiers all topped the previous track record during group qualifying on the 2.454-mile course.
The green flag for the Bully Hill Vineyards 125 is scheduled for 6:15 p.m.
