ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Championships will be on the line when competitors hit the track for the 10th Annual October Classic at All American Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 14.
Five divisions will be in action, with two champions to be crowned, in the biggest event of the year – which will again benefit the Placer Breast Cancer Foundation.
“We anticipate this will be the best October Classic ever,” said event promoter Bill McAnally. “We have a full slate of competition, with something for race fans of all ages. We anticipate tough door-to-door action, with short track racing at its best.”
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will headline the event with the Toyota / NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 presented by TriCo Welding Supplies. It’s the penultimate race of the season, with Bill McAnally Racing drivers Todd Gilliland and Chris Eggleston locked in a tight championship battle. Gilliland, the defending series champion who holds an 11-point lead, and Eggleston, the 2015 series champion, have combined to win 10 of 12 races so far this season.
“This is always one of the most exciting races on the NASCAR K&N West schedule and we anticipate another thrilling event this year,” McAnally said. “The enthusiastic Northern California fans add to it in making it such a great event.”
This year’s October Classic will also feature the crowning of two champions, with the Pacific Challenge Series Late Models and the North State Modified Series each wrapping up their 2017 season. The PCS Late Models will be in competition in the NAPA Mufflers and Shocks 100, while the North State Modifieds will race in the Sinister Diesel 60.
“We look forward to capping off the evening with championship races for the North State Modifieds and the PCS Late Models,” McAnally said. “Both of these touring divisions feature a lot of very talented drivers, which makes for great competition.”
Local divisions will also be in action on the third-mile oval. The Bomber division will compete in the A-All Mini Storage Bomber Bash, and the F4 Skid Plate Series will race in the TriCo Skid Plate Extravaganza. F4 Skid Plate racing can best be described as madcap competition among cars that appear out of control at times. The rear tires of the four-cylinder, front-wheel-drive cars are replaced with steel plates, making for some unexpected action as drivers attempt to race around the track.
“We’re pleased to include these local divisions in this year’s event,” McAnally said. “This is their home track and it’s great to have them as part of the show.”
In addition to all the action on the track, the midway will feature a variety of activities; including live music, a classic car show, numerous vendors, and tasty foods from multiple concessions. Fireworks will be provided, courtesy of Riebes Auto Parts, and Berco Redwood is sponsoring the safety crew for this year’s event
The grandstands open Saturday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m., with racing slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $35 and may be purchased in advance online at www.BMRNAPA.com or by calling (916) 676-0010.
The host hotel for this year’s October Classic is the Hampton Inn & Suites of Roseville.
