MONROE, Wash. -- Derek Kraus is looking for his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win. He's off to a good start Saturday at Evergreen Speedway.
The 15-year-old from Stratford, Wisconsin, paced practice for the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Toyota. Kraus, who already has three runner-up finishes in his rookie campaign, had a lap of 22.085 seconds (105.302 mph) around the .375-mile oval in his No. 19 Central Iowa Architectural/Carlyle Tools Toyota.
Kraus led the first 45-minute session over Bill McAnally Racing teammate Chris Eggleston (23.347/99.610). Eggleston was fastest in the final practice at 23.478/99.054.
Local driver Tayler Riddle, in his series debut, was third quick at 23.725 (98.023).
Ron Norman and Kody Vanderwal rounded out the top five.
Championship points leader Todd Gilliland was sixth fastest overall, followed by Julia Landauer, Michael Self, Blaine Perkins and Will Rodgers.
Qualifying is scheduled for 4 p.m. PT, with the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by Toyota slated to go green at approximately 6:30 p.m.
