TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, Mexico – Rogelio López returned to Victory Lane for the first time in 29 months for his series-leading 16th NASCAR Mexico Series win Sunday at Autódromo de Chiapas.

It was the first win for López (No. 3 Telcel) since he capped his 2006 championship season with a win at Mexico City. He led a 1-2 finish for Telcel, with teammate Germán Quiroga (No. 2 Telcel-FedEx) finishing as runner-up before an estimated crowd of 16,000.

Carlos Pardo, Rafael Martínez and Rubén Rovelo rounded out the top five.

Rain Saturday washed out qualifying, and the lineup was set by the finishing order from the first race at Aguascalientes – won by Quiroga. Quiroga now leads Carlos Peralta, who finished sixth, by 40 points and third-place Pardo by 57.

The 147-lap race was slowed six times by caution flags.
