2009 NCWS West Douglas Eric Holmes wins pole award

QUALIFYING: Holmes continues mastery of Douglas County

ROSEBURG, Ore. – Eric Holmes claimed his first Coors Light Pole Award of the season Saturday as he hopes to make it back-to-back victories at Douglas County Speedway Saturday night in the Toyota/Bi-Mart 150 presented by NAPA.

Holmes put the No. 20 NAPA AutoParts Toyota on the pole with a lap of 15.240 seconds (88.583 mph) around the .375-mile oval. Holmes won the pole last year at Douglas County en route to the victory.

Holmes went out second-to-last and knocked David Mayhew’s No. 17 MMI Services/Ron’s Rear Ends/KHI Chevrolet off the pole. Mayhew, who had posted the fastest time in practice, will start second after putting up a qualifying lap of 15.308 (88.189).

Travis Benntt (No. 44 Giumara Vineyards Chevrolet) qualified third, followed by Moses Smith and Mike David.

The Toyota/Bi-Mart 150 is scheduled to take the green flag at approxiametely 8 p.m.
