SONOMA, Calif. – Former NASCAR Camping World Series East champion and current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano posted the fastest overall time in Friday morning’s two practice sessions at Infineon Raceway. Qualifying for the Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts is slated for Friday afternoon.
Logano’s No. 11 Home Depot Toyota led the first practice with a fast last of 1 minute, 18.4 seconds for an average speed around the 1.99-mile road course of 91.707 mph.
Patrick Long (No. 9 AASCO Motorports Ford) led the second practice with a fast lap of 1:18.2 (91.643), with Logano right behind at 1:18.4 (91.390). Long, who ran the 24 Hours of LeMans last weekend, is racing Sonoma as a teammate to NASCAR Camping World Series West regular Jason Bowles.
Bowles and Eric Holmes, who are locked in the points battle, were seperated by just one-tenth on the track. Holmes (No. 20 NAPA Toyota) was third fastest overall with a second-practice time of 1:18.7 (91.007) and Bowles (No. 6 Sunrise Ford.com/COHA Ford) was fourth with a second-practice time of 1:18.8 (90.686). Holmes leads Bowles, the defending race champion, by 36 points after six races.
Former NASCAR Camping World Series West regular David Gilliland, who won the race in 2007, was fifth fastest overall. Moses Smith, Paulie Harraka, Tom Hubert, Brian Wong and Boris Said rounded out the top 10.
The Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 p.m. PT
