ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Juan Pitta grabbed the lead with six laps remaining and earned his first win of the season in the Late Model Division at All American Speedway Saturday night.
Pitta is the second Drive for Diversity driver in as many weeks to reach Victory Lane. Emily Sue Steck won the Late Model feature at LaCrosse (Wisc.) Fairgrounds Speedway last Saturday.
"We've been in it every week, but we've struggled a little bit with our chemistry and our set-up," said Pitta. "It all came together tonight, though, and it's great to get my first Late Model win for the Drive for Diversty program and Bill McAnally Racing."
Pitta qualified ninth for the first 50-lap Late Model feature in the No. 16 Copart/101.9 The Wolf Toyota and slowly worked his way to the front. He reached third behind points leader Jason Romero and Gary Glenn on a restart with eight laps to go. Romero fell off the pace, and Pitta was able to get around Glenn two laps later.
His final margin of victory over runner-up Glenn was .300 seconds.
Pitta finished eighth in the second 50-lap feature. He is second in Late Model points at All American behind Romero.
