FRASERVILLE, Ont. – Ron Beauchamp Jr. earned his second career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pole award Saturday for the season finale Z-Line Designs 250 presented by The Dodge Dealers of Ontario and Coca-Cola at Kawartha Speedway.
Beauchamp, whose previous pole was at SunValley Speedway in Vernon, B.C., in July, had a fast lap of 18.067 seconds (74.722 mph) around the .375-mile oval.
Andrew Ranger qualified second at 18.081 (74.664). Ranger will clinch his second series championship in three seasons by starting Saturday night's event, which is slated to take the green at 7 p.m.
J.R. Fitzpatrick was third fastst in qualifying at 18.090 (74.627), followed by D.J. Kennington and John Gaunt.
Defending series champion Scott Steckly qualified sixth and defending race winner Jason Hathaway qualified 20th. Time trials were interrupted briefly by rain.
