5:54 p.m. -- Donny Lia is the 2009 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion. Lia finishes with 2,020 points and Preece is the title runner-up with 2,004. This is Lia's second crown in the last three years. Sunday marked Christopher's 34th career victory, his third of 2009 and his ninth career triumph at Thompson. RESULTS

CHECKERED FLAG: Ted Christopher has captured the World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Xtra Mart. Unofficial top 10: Christopher, Preece, Coby, Lia, Pennink, Pasteryak, Rudolph, Rudolph, Kevin Goodale, Silk and Pitkat. 

Lap 149 -- Christopher leads Preece by 1.216 seconds at the line. 

Lap 148 -- Preece takes the high line to get past Coby for second with Christopher in a comfortable lead. 

Lap 143 -- Christopher leads Preece by .376 seconds at the line with Coby in third and Lia in fourth. 

Lap 141 -- Preece stays on Christopher's bumper nearly the entire circuit. 

Lap 140 -- GREEN FLAG: Christopher leads Preece at the line. 

Lap 137 -- Seventeen cars remain on the lead lap. Silk, Sylvester and Summers are just outside the top 10. 

Lap 136 -- Leaders are scored as: Christopher, Preece, Lia, Coby, Pennink, Pasteryak, Kevin Goodale, Rudolph, Flemke and Pitkat. 

Lap 135 -- CAUTION NO. 8: Reen spins in Turns 1 and 2. 

Lap 134 -- Christopher leads Preece by .712 seconds at the line.  

Lap 132 -- Christopher to the lead between Turns 1 and 2. 

Lap 131 --  Preece makes a hard charge for second on Christopher. 

Lap 130 -- GREEN FLAG: Lia leads Christopher at the line. 

Lap 126 -- Race leaders are: Lia, Christopher, Preece, Coby, Pennink, Pasteryak, Kevin Goodale, Flemke, Rudolph and Sylvester. 

Lap 125 -- CAUTION NO. 7: Bush and Stefanik involved in accident between Turns 1 and 2. Christopher had got past Lia between 1 and 2, but once again the field will revert to the last completed green flag lap. 

Lap 122 -- Christopher goes under Lia in 3 and 4, but Lia holds the lead at the line. 

Lap 121 -- Lia maintains the lead with Christopher and Preece closing in. 

Lap 119 -- GREEN FLAG: Lia leads easily at the line from the inside lane. 

Lap 119 -- Race leaders are: Lia, Christopher, Preece, Pennink and Pasteryak. 

Lap 116 -- CAUTION NO. 6: Stefanik spins on the backstretch. 

Lap 115 -- GREEN FLAG: Lia beats Christopher to the line on the outside. 

Lap 114 -- As track clean-up continues to work, race leaders are scored as: Christopher, Lia, Preece, Pennink, Pasteryak, Flemke, Coby, Rudolph, Eric Goodale and Kevin Goodale. 

Lap 111 -- Civali is behind the wall with possible transmission failure. 

Lap 110 -- Prior to the caution coming out, Lia and Preece made contact in Turns 1 and 2, but both corrected and stayed in their current positions of 2nd and third. 

Lap 109 -- CAUTION NO. 5: Savary, Pitkat, Beers, Marosz and Heagy involved in an accident on the front stretch. 

Lap 108 -- GREEN FLAG: Christopher gets past lead on the outside line to take the lead. 

Lap 104 -- Pitkat and Beers among the highest running cars that come to pit road. 

Lap 103 -- Santos will be pushed off. Race leaders are: Lia, Christopher, Pennik, Preece and Pasteryak. 

Lap 102 -- CAUTION NO. 4: Santos into the wall in Turn 2.  Christopher had taken the lead on the backstretch before the caution came out, but the field will revert to the last completed green flag lap. 

Lap 100 -- Cole is off the pace on the backstretch and comes to pit road. Lia leads Christopher by .270 seconds. 

Lap 98 -- Preece is around Pasteryak for fourth with Lia leading Christopher by just .371 seconds at the line. 

Lap 96 -- Christopher rockets under Pennink entering Turn 3 and takes second place coming out of Turn 4. 

Lap 94 -- Christopher around Pasteryak for third with Preece following. 

Lap 93 -- Preece gets around Flemke for fifth with Christopher in fourth. 

Lap 90 -- Christopher is up to fifth with Preece in seventh. 

Lap 89 -- Lia leads pennink by .239 seconds with Pasteryak a distant third. 

Lap 87 -- GREEN FLAG: Lia leads Pennink at the line. 

Lap 86 -- Race leaders are scored as: Lia, Pennink, Pasteryak, Flemke, Pitkat, Eric Goodale, Rudolph, Christopher, Preece and Santos. 

Lap 85 -- Christopher, Preece and Santos first cars off pit road. 

Lap 84 -- Chrtistopher, Preece, Civali, Coby are race leaders that come to pit road. Lia and others stay out and will resume the lead. 

Lap 82 -- CAUTION NO. 3: Dupuis spins on the frontstretch and makes contact with the wall as the race leaders just avoid getting caught up. 

Lap 79 -- Racing just outside the top 10 is among the best on the track at the moment as Tyler, Kevin Goodale, Santos, Rudolph and Tomaino are all competitive. 

Lap 75 -- Race leaders at the halfway mark are: Christopher, Preece, Lia, Civali, Coby, Pennink, Pasteryak, Flemke, Pitkat and Eric Goodale. 

Lap 71 -- Christopher leads Preece by .369 seconds at the line with Lia fading in third. 

Lap 66 -- Race leaders are already catching lap traffic. Preece now trails Christopher by .520 seconds at the line.  

Lap 63 -- The field has settled in single file with Christopher, Preece, Lia, Civali and Coby pulling away from the field. 

Lap 59 -- Christopher has a .825-second lead on Preece with the same interval between Preece and Lia. 

Lap 57 -- Lia gets past Civali entering Turn three to move into third place behind Christopher and Preece. 

Lap 54 -- Christopher leads Preece by .650 seconds at the line. 

Lap 51 -- Preece past Civali for second. 

Lap 50 -- GREEN FLAG: Christopher leads at the line. 

Lap 48 -- Leaders are scored as: Christopher, Civali, Civali, Coby, Preece, Eric Goodale, Lia, Pitkat, Tyler, Pasteryak and Tomaino. Rudolph and Stefanik to the tail end for running over air hose on pit road. 

Lap 46 -- Lia, Pennink, Stefanik, Pasteryak, and Pitkat among leaders to pit road. Christopher, Civali, Coby and Preece are among cars that stay out. 

Lap 45 -- Race leaders are: Christopher, Lia, Pennink, Stefanik, Civali, Pasteryak, Pitkat, Coby, Preece and Beers. 

Lap 43 -- CAUTION NO. 2: Sylvester spins into the infield on the frontstretch. 

Lap 40 -- Preece is back in the top 10. 

Lap 39 -- As they navigate lap traffic, Christopher has a .955-second lead on Lia with Preece closing in on tenth place Tomaino. 

Lap 34 -- Christopher now leads Lia by 1.266 seconds with Pennink closing in on Lia for second. 

Lap 30 -- Preece continues his climb through the field, now scored in 15th. 

Lap 28 -- Christopher has forged a .690-second lead on Lia with Pennink about the same interval back in third. 

Lap 25 -- Top 10 is: Christopher, Lia, Pennink, Stefanik, Pitkat, Civali, Pasteryak, Beers, Tomaino and Sylvester. 

Lap 22 -- Stefanik and Pitkat in the hottest battle on the track currently, for fourth. 

Lap 20 -- Lia is on Christophers bumper at the line. Preece is up to 20th. 

Lap 18 -- Lia has chopped Christopher's lead in half as Pennink is three car lenghts back in third. 

Lap 15 -- Top five is: Christopher, Lia, Pennink, Pitkat and Stefanik. 

Lap 14 -- Christopher leads by nearly half a second at the line. 

Lap 12 -- Christopher takes the lead from Lia. 

Lap 11 -- GREEN FLAG: Lia leads at the line. 

Lap 10 -- Just a quick look at Preece's car and he rejoins the field in 25th. Szegedy's car will be taken behind the wall on a wrecker. 

Lap 9 -- Race leaders are: Lia, Christopher, Stefanik, Pennink, Beers, Pitkat, Civali, Pasteryak, Sylvester, Tomaino. Preece comes to pit road. 

Lap 7 -- CAUTION NO. 1: Todd Szegedy and Ryan Preece involved in an accident in Turn 4. Both drive off, but Szegedy has right front damage and will come to pit road. 

Lap 6 -- Lia has barely a car-length lead ath the line. 

Lap 3 -- Top six bumper-to-bumper across the line, with Pennink in sixth. 

Lap 1 -- Lia, Preece, Szegedy, Christopher and Stefanik across the line. 

4:35 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: Donny Lia leads the field at the line. 

4:33 p.m. -- Two to go at the line. When the race goes green, Ted Christopher, Todd Szegedy and Rowan Pennink will be eliminated from championship contention and the 2009 title will come down to Donny Lia and Ryan Preece, who will start side-by-side on the front row. 

4:30 p.m. -- The field has rolled off onto the track. It will be a rolling start. 

4:15 p.m. -- The supermodified race is complete. The Whelen Modified Tour is up next. 

3:23 p.m. -- Ron Silk has won the Sunoco Modified race. There are two more features scheduled before the Whelen Modified Tour takes the track. 

1 p.m. -- Practice is complete.  Ted Christopher recorded the fastest lap at 16.680 seconds (120.450 mph).  PRACTICE TIMES 

12:25 p.m. -- With the speedway slightly ahead of schedule, Whelen Modified Tour practice is now underway. 

12 p.m. -- It is sunny and 58 degrees at the track.  Opening ceremonies are complete.  The Whelen Modified Tour is scheduled to practice from 12:30-1 p.m. 

Sunday, 8 a.m. -- The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour garage is open.  Sunny skies and 50 degrees at the speedway. 

3:25 p.m. -- All track activity has been suspended for the day. The Whelen Modified Tour is now scheduled to practice from 12:30-1 p.m. on Sunday and the starting field for the 150-lap race will be set by the rulebook. The garage will open Sunday at 8 a.m. STARTING LINEUP

12:45 p.m. -- Precipitation has been intermittent throughout the day.  There are currently 28 Whelen Modified Tour cars unloaded.  Tony Ferrante Jr. has withdrawn while the cars of Bobby Santos and Andy Seuss - if they attennd - will not be at the track until Sunday.

9 a.m. -- Not all of the teams have arrived at the speedway as the precipitation continues.  Zach Sylvester will drive the No. 12 TS Haulers Chevrolet this weekend in place of Keith Rocco. 

7:30 a.m. -- The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour garage is open.  There is light rain in the air.
