Eric Holmes and Peyton Sellers will start their respective NASCAR Camping World Series races Saturday night up front on opposite coasts.
Holmes captured his first Coors Light Pole Award of the NCWS West season. Holmes' lap of 90.976 mph in qualifying for the Allstate Texas Thunder 150 at Thunder Hill Raceway in Kyle, Texas earned him his sixth career pole. His time of 14.839 seconds was just .003 of a second off the track record of 14.839 set a year ago.
Holmes' teammate at Bill McAnally Racing, Austin Cameron, qualified second at 15.039 seconds (89.767 mph). David Mayhew and rookies Jeff Barkshire and Jason Patison rounded out the top five.
Ironically, it's a pair of former BMR drivers on the front row for the NCWS East opener An American Revolution 150 presented by Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Greenville, S.C. in Sellers and Brian Ickler. Sellers posted the fastest time at 20.702 seconds (86.948 mph), followed by Ickler at 20.816 (86.472).
Sellers, who earned the NCWS West Sunoco Rookie of the Year in 2006 driving for BMR, earned his second career NCWS East pole and first since joining Andy Santerre Motorsports in the offseason.
"Andy's got good stuff," Sellers said. "I feel good starting off the year. I'm looking forward to tonight, just got to keep the fenders on it and have a good time."
Ickler won three races and finished fourth in points in the NCWS West for BMR last year. He's running the full NCWS East schedule this season with his own team.
Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Marc Davis qualified third, followed by Bobby Hamilton Jr. and Seller's ASM teammate Austin Dillon.
