The 'Other' Carlson Wins One

WEST SALEM, Wisc. – Steve Carlson won the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship last year. But he may have been even prouder with his second-place finish Saturday night. That’s because the driver to beat Carlson was his son, Mike, who picked up his first career victory in the Kwik Trip Late Model feature at LaCrosse (Wisc.) Fairgrounds Speedway.

It was the opening race of the season at the track where Steve Carlson won the division title en route to the state and national championship.

“It was fun doing this,” said Mike Carlson. “It was a blast coming here and getting my first win.”
