SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico - Germán Quiroga captured his first NASCAR Mexico Series win since November of last year Sunday at the Potosino Oval.
Quiroga (No. 5 Telcel Ford) ended Antonio Pérez's two race win streak. Pérez (No. 1 Telmex/Red Bull Dodge) finished second, followed by point leader Rafael Martínez (No. 18 Canel's/Scotiabank Ford). Pole sitter Carlos Pardo (No. 21 Motorcraft/Shermin Williams/ALD Ford) and Rubén Rovelo (No. 2 Telmex/Red Bull Ford) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
The race featured six different race leaders and 14 cars finished on the lead lap.
On the first race of the season, brothers Carlos and Ruben Pardo were 1-2 - the first time two brothers occupied the top two spots since Jorge Goeters and Patrick Goeters accomplished the feat in the last race of the 2005 season.
Quiroga closed to within eight points of Martínez. Carlos Pardo is third, 32 points back of Martínez.
