ADAMS COUNTY TRACK FACTS

The Adams County Speedway is an oval half-mile dirt track founded in 1888. The speedway was originally operated as a county fairgrounds known for its horse racing. It has continued to progress and hosts the NASCAR Whelen- All American Series in Corning, Iowa just north of the Missouri border.

• Adams County Fairgrounds established in 1888.
• Horse- racing at the track was prevalent in 1937 offering a $1000 prize.
• August 1952, the first "hot rod races" were held.
• 1984- Adams County Speedway became a NASCAR sanction, increasing competition visibility nationwide.
